He’s gonna need a bigger boat!

In the year celebrating the 40th anniversary of the film Jaws, its director, Steven Spielberg, has announced he is selling his £120 million, 282ft megayacht Seven Seas – because it is too small…

Since the famous line ‘We’re gonna need a bigger boat’ in Jaws was uttered, it would appear that Spielberg has taken it rather literally this time!

The Hollywood movie mogul is having a new boat built apparently for around £160 million. This latest yacht will be 300ft long – making it a total spend of $40m for 18ft worth of extra deck space…

Seven Seas was designed by Nuvolari Lenard and built by Dutch shipbuilder Oceanco. It has an infinity pool with a 15ft glass wall that would you believe, doubles up as a movie screen! It has 7 suites for up to 12 guests, a helicopter landing pad, gym, spa, and massage room. Everything you could possibly desire!

And speaking of everything you desire – in 2013 Steven took his wife Kate Capshaw and their seven children on board the yacht for a 30,000-mile round-the-world cruise, stopping at some of his most notable film locations. They included Shanghai where he shot Empire Of The Sun and Hawaii where he made Jurassic Park.

The yacht is currently being rented out at just over $1 million per week, yes that’s per week – making it one of the most expensive charters in the world! We wonder who might be paying the princely sum…

According to his friends, Steven would like to spend more time exploring the seas, and invite others to join in – so he’s upgrading to a bigger yacht.

He has been known to invite Hollywood stars on board, including Leo DiCaprio, triple Oscar winner Daniel Day Lewis and his goddaughter Gwyneth Paltrow. Click here for more pics of celebs enjoying the entertainment on board Superyacht Seven Seas!

He certainly won’t need to worry about wrestling with any sharks on a 300ft floating palace! Watch this space for further deets on the sale – and of course the new purchase!
